Doppler Studies

Doppler studies are performed to examine blood flow in arteries and veins throughout the body. For example, color and spectral Doppler, along with grayscale imaging, are utilized to show blocked or reduced blood flow in the major arteries of the neck that could cause a stroke, or reveal life-threatening blood clots in leg veins (DVT) that could break loose and block blood flow to the lungs.

BTX provides duplex imaging, which produces a picture of a blood vessel and the surrounding tissues, along with a spectral graph and/or color images that give information about the presence, speed, and direction of blood flow through the vessel being evaluated. Duplex ultrasound procedures include:

  • Renal artery duplex examines blood flow to the kidneys
  • Mesenteric duplex examines blood flow to the liver, spleen, stomach, and intestine
  • Carotid duplex examines blood flow to the brain through the carotid arteries
  • Arterial duplex examines arterial blood flow to the upper or lower extremities
  • Venous duplex examines venous blood flow to the upper or lower extremities

Doppler studies are available in most geographic areas. Call 877.909.9729 or email dispatch@biotechxray.com to ensure it is available in your area and schedule an exam.
